How to Apply for a Dietetic Internship
Are you ready to take a critical step in becoming a Registered Dietitian? Let’s talk about how to apply for a dietetic internship!
Do Your Research
Before applying, do your research and navigate internship websites for programs of interest to you. Talk to as many Registered Dietitians as you can and ask them about their internship experience. Use LinkedIn to connect with Registered Dietitians and current Dietetic Interns – this is a great way to network and learn more about internship programs. Reach out to Program Directors and schedule calls and attend Open Houses. After you understand as much as you can about the internships and their requirements you can determine if a dietetic internship is right for you – and which ones you want to apply for! Then make notes of the required documentation you will need for a specific internship.
Create a DICAS Account
To start the application process, you will need to visit the online dietetic internship centralized application process (DICAS) portal and create your account. Now, you can begin your application. The digital application will consist of information such as personal, education, and background details as well as match information. There will also be a section for you to add the additional required documents for the internship you are applying to. For help navigating through the DICAS application click here . The DICAS application fee for the first designation is $50 and $25 for each additional designation.
When completing your match information in your DICAS application, you will need to enter the D&D digital ID for your site. Click here to find your digital ID.
*KBDI D&D digital ID is 625 and is listed as Komplete Business Dietetic Internship under programs in New Jersey.
Register with D&D Digital
After submitting your applications through DICAS, you will need to register with D&D digital in order to complete the matching process. Once you register, you will receive a username to login and access the portal. Here you will rank your top internship sites.
You will have the opportunity to re-rank your programs after the interview process.
